Social Mercy NOT Social Justice and my Thoughts on Hell, mandy
I'm constantly perplexed when Christian's so ardently support the causes of social justice and yet are slow to evangelize their own towns or dive into their own Church Bodies. Hollywood has glamorized the idea of social justice issues, and Christian's have jumped in the driver's seat, I could get on a soap box about this one, but I'll save that for another blog post. Don't get me wrong, I think providing for the basic needs, food clothing, shelter, is absolutely godly and we should provide for those in need! However, if we serve thousands rice, drill wells, hand out water, fight for their rights, and still neglect the most important part of their being, their souls…their eternity is Hell. Jesus wasn't into justice. Justice is getting what you deserve, and if he fought for that cause, we'd be separated from God forever, in Hell. Remember in the New Testament when the Jew's brought the prostitute to Jesus and they inquired what Jesus was going to do? If Jesus demanded justice, the law would have stoned that woman to death. Bu what did Jesus do, he bowed, wrote something in the sand, and said, go and sin no more………..that is the FULLNESS and absolute grace and mercy…not justice. Jesus was into Social Mercy! His ministry was cloaking life's in grace and mercy that otherwise deserved justice. I think that's the significant difference between social justice and Christian missions. Social justice causes focus entirely on the basic physical needs, and Christian mission's focuses on the condition of man's soul. We should not neglect caring for those needs, but the emphasis should be ministering social mercy.
A few thoughts on Hell:
I'm squeamish even mentioning it 2X above. I guess that's what has me thinking, we've become entirely too tolerant of not brining offense to anyone, that churches have gone years from even mentioning hell from the pulpit , or don't even believe in hell at all.
I don't know everything about Heaven or Hell, I don't even study Hell. I do know that Heaven is the presence of all that is good and the Fullness of God Himself. I don't think that God delights in sending people to Hell. I think many people think that God sits on a big chair , with a flowing white beard and fire flaring our of his nostrils as he casts people into a lake of Fire. Here's a questions: If someone has spent their entire life running from God, rejecting people that talk about him, every time a subject comes up about God , they run, every time a Christian song comes on they roll their eyes and turn the other way, why would a loving God force his presence on their life when all they have done is reject everything about him their entire life? Those are my thoughts on the heart behind Hell. I think God weeps over every soul that rejects Him. God is LOVE! Those are my thoughts on Hell, just so you know, my mind is stirring, I'm not a meat eating Texas that Loves to mention Hell, just a stirring heart.

Very sobering thoughts. Thanks for this post Mandy.
Mandy, thank you for your heart and your willness to share it! Helli s such a hard topic but it is something we can not ingore. Britt Merrick at Reality Church is bold in his preaching on hell. He does an amazing job teaching on such a difficult subject. I recommend Christians listen to him. He spoke on it just last week www.jesusisreality.com. After listening to him I have been so fired up to love on people and share God's grace. Death is our enemy - we were meant to LIVE. And to live abundantly in Christ.
